Matthew 5:27-32

Matthew 5:27-32, Concerning Adultery and Divorce

This one is little harder, I’m divorced and remarried. Am I living in sin?

I am willing to admit that this could be a justification, but to a great extent, I do think that Jesus was talking to men, mostly because women didn’t have much say in marriage or divorce at the time.  Women were victims who became adulterers because of the way men treated them.

I do think that Jesus would say that “hooking up” or any form of casual sex is a sin.  Relationships rooted in lust are unhealthy and lead to people being discarded as waste. Women should not be regarded as objects (men either) who can be used and left behind when the next candidate comes along.

And we should all take marriage seriously from the beginning and avoid divorce.
