The plan was underway to trap Jesus, so they could stop his troublemaking. On one hand, He was drawing people away from their teaching, but there was also concern of riots during Passover. It was important to appease Rome, in order to prevent them from destroying Jerusalem.
Jesus gave a smart response regarding taxes, but consider what it means. Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and give to God what is God’s.
What belongs to God?
