Matthew 18:10-14

Matthew 18:10-14

If the child from the previous lesson does stumble, and wander away, Jesus will go after them. Jesus’s mission, and our mission, should we choose to accept it, is to go after the lost and wandering.

This is a difficult lesson for congregations. We want to feel safe and have our shepherd care for us. Jesus says, “no.” If you’re already safe and secure, then you don’t need Him to watch over you, the mission is not to nurture, it’s to save, to reconcile.

Who are you in this story? Are you a lost sheep? A safe and secure sheep? Or have you allowed your former self to die and be transformed from being a sheep into following in the steps of the Shepherd and going out to find the lost?
